When I look back, I wasn’t ever massively overweight, yet I used to starve myself, 'fall off the wagon', then binge in secret.
I was lonely, ashamed, had a love/hate relationship with food and it ruled my life.
Every waking moment was spent thinking about food - how to avoid it, how to control it, or how to regain control of it.
Then everything changed for me when I started to really understand food and how our body process it.
Very quickly I discovered how to nourish not punish my body, found joy in pouring the goodness in, and learned how our bodies process different food groups (the science!), which made eating logical and enjoyable, because it's no longer emotion, stress, or comfort driven.
The reasons behind issues around food are complex, emotion based and damaging, so simply being told to ‘eat less and move more’ doesn’t really help . It offers zero insight, or the knowledge required to make lasting change.
Diet culture has a lot to answer for too.
From the language used, “good, bad, syn, clean, guilt-free”, which is so damaging because it promotes feelings of guilt, shame and 'all or nothing' thinking, to the sense of failure it instils until that number on the scales is the winning one.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
I broke free from food misery and now have a healthy relationship with food, feel the best I have in years (whilst being in menopause) and am buzzing with energy.
All directly from food, which is now my friend, and all at the age of 50. I want this for you too.
